GLP-1 weight loss in Bangalore, prescribed and monitored by doctors

Semaglutide and tirzepatide-class medicines helped people in clinical trials lose 10 to 20 percent of their body weight over about a year. The results depend on the assessment, the dose plan and the follow-up. The Metabolic Health Clinical Council at Even Hospitals runs all three.

Your booking is confirmed on the spot with no online payment; the ₹850 consultation fee is paid at the hospital. Tests are billed at our standard rates and only what your doctor orders. Medicines are prescription-only, bought at any pharmacy, and are never sold on this page.

Who qualifies

The programme is for adults with

  • a BMI of 30 or more
  • a BMI of 27 or more with type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol or high triglycerides
  • weight that has not moved despite genuine diet and exercise efforts
  • the time and intent to follow a plan for a year, not a few weeks
Check your BMI

GLP-1 medicines are not prescribed if you

  • have type 1 diabetes
  • are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • have had pancreatitis
  • have a personal or family history of medullary thyroid cancer or MEN2
  • have serious kidney disease, gastroparesis or diabetic retinopathy under treatment
  • have surgery planned in the coming weeks

Mental-health history is reviewed at the first visit; it does not exclude you, but it changes how closely we follow up.

How the programme works

  1. First assessment. An internal medicine specialist takes your history, measures weight, BMI and blood pressure, and orders baseline tests: HbA1c, fasting sugar, lipid profile, thyroid, liver and kidney function, CBC, urine, and an ultrasound of the abdomen and thyroid. A DEXA scan for body composition is optional.
  2. Your plan. A diet plan with our dietitian, an activity plan built around your fitness, and, if you qualify and want it, a GLP-1 prescription. Doses step up gradually over about 16 weeks to a maintenance dose, which is where the weight loss happens.
  3. Close follow-up. Doctor reviews on day 3, 7 and 14 after starting, at every dose step, then every four weeks. The dietitian sees you every two weeks. A care coordinator with a medical background stays in touch on WhatsApp. Persistent side effects are escalated to a consultant endocrinologist.
  4. Twelve months, then a decision. At the end of the year you and your doctor decide whether to continue, taper, or move to a lifestyle-based plan with continued monitoring.

What it costs

  • Consultation: ₹850, paid at the hospital on the day. No online payment.
  • Tests at Even Hospitals' standard rates, only the ones your doctor orders.
  • Medicines are bought at a pharmacy against your prescription. Most GLP-1 medicines in India cost roughly ₹3,000 to ₹18,000 a month depending on the molecule and the dose, and your doctor tells you the exact figure before you decide.
  • Follow-up and dietitian visits are quoted as a plan at your first assessment, so you know the full year's cost before you start.

What you should know before you start

Common side effects

Nausea, vomiting, constipation or diarrhoea, and dehydration are common in the first weeks and usually settle with smaller meals, fluids and a slower dose step-up. Rare but serious problems include pancreatitis and gallbladder disease, which is why we follow up on day 3, 7 and 14.

Muscle, not just fat

Without resistance training, up to 40 percent of the weight lost can be muscle. The activity plan is not optional decoration; it is what keeps the loss healthy.

Stopping the medicine

Most people regain a large part of the weight within one to three years of stopping unless eating and activity habits changed along the way. The programme is built around those habits so that the year is not wasted.

When surgery is the better answer

For a BMI above 37.5, or above 32.5 with diabetes or other conditions, your doctor may discuss bariatric surgery. Even Hospitals performs laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy, and the same team can walk you through both options honestly.

GLP-1 receptor agonists are prescription-only medicines. Nothing on this page is a prescription or an offer to sell medicine. Whether one is right for you is decided by your doctor after examination and tests.

Questions people ask

Can I get Ozempic, Wegovy or Mounjaro at Even Hospitals?

Your doctor decides which molecule and dose, if any, fits your health, and writes a prescription that you fill at any pharmacy. We do not sell or ship medicines. The programme is about using these medicines safely, with the tests, follow-up and diet support they need.

How much weight will I lose?

In clinical trials, semaglutide-class medicines produced an average loss of around 15 percent of body weight and tirzepatide around 20 percent at the highest dose, over roughly 15 to 18 months. Individual results vary widely and depend on the dose you tolerate, your diet and activity, and how long you stay on the plan. Your doctor will give you a realistic personal range at the first assessment.

Is it an injection?

Most GLP-1 medicines are a once-a-week injection with a small pen that you give yourself at home after we train you. An oral semaglutide tablet exists for diabetes; your doctor will tell you if it is suitable.

Do I need to have diabetes?

No. The programme accepts adults with a BMI of 30 or more, or 27 or more with a weight-related condition such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure or high cholesterol.

Can I do the follow-ups online?

Yes. After the first assessment, doctor and dietitian reviews can be video consultations, and the care coordinator works over WhatsApp and phone. Tests and scans are done at Race Course Road.

What if I get side effects?

You message the care coordinator or book the next review early. Dose steps are slowed, the diet is adjusted, and if the problem persists a consultant endocrinologist reviews you. The medicine is stopped if it is not safe for you.
