How it Works

Your Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy Journey at Even Hospitals

Consultation & DiagnosisStep 1

Consultation & Diagnosis

After consultation, breast imaging, biopsy, and axillary ultrasound, your surgeon confirms clinical node-negative status and plans SLNB with the tumour board.

Tracer InjectionStep 2

Tracer Injection

Radioisotope is injected the day before surgery for lymphoscintigraphy; blue dye is injected around the tumour or subareolar region at the start of surgery.

Sentinel Node Removal & Frozen SectionStep 3

Sentinel Node Removal & Frozen Section

A small axillary incision is made, the gamma probe and visible blue dye guide identification of sentinel nodes, which are removed and sent for frozen section. If positive, axillary clearance can be added in the same sitting.

Recovery & Follow-UpStep 4

Recovery & Follow-Up

Most patients are discharged the same day or next morning. Final histopathology in 5 - 7 days guides adjuvant chemotherapy, radiotherapy, or endocrine therapy through the tumour board.

Our Services

Advanced Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy Procedures We Offer

Dual Tracer SLNB

Dual Tracer SLNB

Dual tracer SLNB uses both a radioisotope (technetium-99m sulphur colloid) injected the day before and blue dye injected on the day of surgery to identify sentinel nodes with the highest accuracy. It is the gold-standard approach with sentinel node identification rates above 95 percent.

  • 45 - 75 minute procedure
  • Recovery in 1 - 2 weeks
Single Tracer SLNB

Single Tracer SLNB

Single tracer SLNB uses blue dye alone (methylene blue or patent blue) injected around the tumour or subareolar region to identify the sentinel node. It is used when radioisotope logistics are not available and gives good identification rates in experienced hands.

  • 30 - 60 minute procedure
  • Recovery in 1 - 2 weeks
