How it Works
Your Cricotracheal Resection Journey at Even Hospitals
Step 1Consultation & Diagnosis
After consultation, flexible laryngoscopy, CT virtual bronchoscopy, and pulmonary function tests, your airway surgeon plans single-stage or two-stage cricotracheal reconstruction.
Step 2Surgery & Anastomosis
General anaesthesia is given; the diseased subglottic / upper tracheal segment is resected and end-to-end anastomosis is performed, with staged reconstruction if needed. The procedure usually takes 3 - 5 hours per stage.
Step 3Post-Surgery Care
Patients are monitored in ICU for 2 - 4 days for airway and anastomosis healing; most are discharged within 8 - 14 days with structured pain control and a chin-to-chest stitch.
Step 4Recovery & Follow-Up
Recovery typically takes 6 - 8 weeks for single-stage or 12 - 24 weeks for two-stage, with serial bronchoscopy to confirm healing and timely decannulation.
