How it Works
Your Breast Conservation Surgery Journey at Even Hospitals
Step 1Consultation & Diagnosis
After consultation, imaging (mammography, ultrasound or MRI), and a confirmatory biopsy, your surgeon confirms suitability for breast conservation at the multidisciplinary tumour board.
Step 2Surgical Planning
Pre-operative markings, localisation (with wire or clip for non-palpable lesions), and anaesthesia review are done. The oncoplastic plan is agreed with the patient.
Step 3Wide Local Excision or Oncoplastic Quadrantectomy
The tumour is excised with a 1 cm clear margin (WLE) or a full quadrant is removed and the breast is reshaped (oncoplasty), together with sentinel lymph node biopsy through a small axillary incision.
Step 4Recovery & Radiotherapy
Recovery takes 2 - 4 weeks; histopathology and tumour board review guide adjuvant radiotherapy (starting at 4 - 8 weeks) and any systemic therapy (chemotherapy / endocrine therapy).
