Techniques we offer

Endoscopic Septoplasty

Endoscopic septoplasty uses a high-definition endoscope to visualise and correct the deviated septum with sub-millimetre precision through the nostrils. This minimally invasive approach offers excellent visualisation, less tissue trauma, and faster recovery than traditional open techniques.

Open Septoplasty

Open septoplasty involves a direct incision inside the nostril to access and reshape the deviated cartilage and bone of the nasal septum. The time-tested approach is recommended for severe deviations and complex anatomical variations, delivering reliable, definitive results.

Your treatment journey, step by step

  1. Consultation & Diagnosis
After consultation & nasal examination, your ENT specialist confirms septum deviation and recommends the right procedure.
  2. Septoplasty Procedure
General anaesthesia is given, and the deviated septum is corrected via endoscopic or open technique. The procedure usually takes 45 - 90 minutes.
  3. Post-Surgery Care
Patients are monitored post-surgery; most patients are discharged the same day or within 24 hours with detailed nasal care guidance.
  4. Recovery & Follow-Up
    Endoscopic septoplasty recovery takes 1 - 2 weeks, while open surgery requires 2 - 3 weeks of nasal-care follow-up.

Frequently asked questions

Why is septoplasty recommended?

Septoplasty is advised when a deviated nasal septum causes chronic nasal blockage, recurrent sinusitis, frequent nosebleeds, snoring, or sleep apnea — and conservative treatments have failed. Surgery permanently corrects the airway.

Is the procedure safe, and how long does it take?

Septoplasty is one of the most commonly performed ENT surgeries with an excellent safety record. Endoscopic septoplasty takes 45 - 60 minutes; open septoplasty takes 60 - 90 minutes, both under general anaesthesia.

How painful is recovery?

Mild facial pressure and nasal congestion are normal for the first 5 - 7 days, easily managed with prescribed nasal sprays and pain medication. Severe pain is uncommon.

Will my appearance change after surgery?

No. Septoplasty is purely an internal procedure — there are no external incisions, and the external shape of the nose remains unchanged. Cosmetic changes require a separate rhinoplasty procedure.

Will I have nasal packing?

Most modern septoplasty procedures use dissolvable internal splints rather than traditional packing. These splints are removed at the 7 - 10 day follow-up visit, allowing easier breathing during recovery.

When can I resume work and exercise?

Desk work resumes within 7 - 10 days. Avoid blowing your nose, swimming, and heavy exercise for 2 - 3 weeks to allow the septum to heal in its corrected position.

Will the septum deviate again?

Modern septoplasty provides permanent correction. The treated septum does not return to its deviated position. Trauma to the nose can cause a new deviation, but this is rare.
